First of all.....i wouldn't have rate any star....my rate would be 0....the management we're beyond worse. We heard about this place from our friends at work...that BALLARD FAMILY MORTUARY has the worst service ever....anyway as we used to chose this place and see for ourselves...we was given a WHOLE DAY SERVICE....but instead that very day they gave my family was only 4 hrs. Service.....seriously? They apperar out of no where and start ripping of everything and even tell us to "GET OUT NOW", that's what the manager yell at my dad!......and again i rate 00000 plus WORST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!
They also had some very beautiful cremation pendants as we had family travel from all over to be here and were able to send them home with a piece of my brother before they left.
We lost my dad on July 9th. He passed away at home while taking a nap. The staff that arrived at his home were very professional and gave us all the time we need to say good by. That was so important to our family. It did not just stop there. I contacted Joey the next morning and he directed me to the Kona office since the service would be held in Kona. We met with Connie and from the start she was very professional and certainly well experienced. She was able to answer our questions and handle our request even though at this time in our lives we could hardly function. Connie went beyond her duties and was the last person to leave the funeral at the VA Cemetery. We had family arriving from the mainland and wanted to able to see my dad one last time. I contacted Joey on his cell and he came in on his day off to prepare my dad for a short visit. The staff that day at the Hilo location were nothing but professional. The moment we walked in and met with Joey and his wife, it gave us the feeling we were around family. That is a feeling that can not be duplicated. In a time like this it adds another level of comfort. Joey presented my dad to us for the visit with the family and told us to take as much time as we needed. The final issue that all of us have to address is the cost for these services. I am amazed at how their prices are very reasonable. Thank You for every thing.
The experience my family and I had was beyond words could explain! They were ALL beyond helpful and we couldn't ask for more and could not have picked a better place to help with my dad! We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! Love , The Boreliz Ohana
I live in Colorado. My dad in Washington state. We are both from Hilo. When my dad passed, I reached out to Ballard Family Mortuary for assistance with obituaries and tributes. Everyone there, especially Naz, went above and beyond to help me get what I needed. I am forever grateful to everyone at Ballard Family Mortuary. They have my full recommendation.
I recently had to plan my brother's service and was so frustrated with all the funeral homes I had called. By the time I contacted Ballard I had given up hope and felt like there were all heartless companies just trying to make money instead of being compassionate to my loss. Joey could tell I was upset and from the beginning offered any type of help he could to make this an easier process. All the other mortuaries were so cold in allowing us more than one viewing before having a service but Joey and Nazareth went above and beyond in treating us as part of the Ohana and making us feel a little more comfort thru a horrible situation. I recommend them and share the story with so many I encounter and hope you find this helpful if you ever have to plan such services.
