This is a good Japanese restaurant. Not much of a sushi place. Prices are ok, a little on the higher side. The food is delicious. The portions are a nice size. Being such a popular spot to eat out, I highly recommend making a reservation as it gets quite busy during lunch and dinner time.
Oustanding! Excellent service, delicious locally-sourced food (the squid and tempura are to die for!) and very reasonably-priced. Popular venue, so good idea to book in advance
The food is absolutely delicious. My husband and I would order it everyday if we could. He loves the chicken and eggs(Oyako-Don) and I love the Tofu Steak and Curry. He was pleasantly surprised about the quantity and quality of chicken he received. Every bit of my meal was delightful. I especially enjoyed the pickles. The flavor was unique and new to us in the best way. The price is reasonable too. We have the food delivered to our home through express waiters, so I can't comment on the dine-in experience.
The hostess walked us to our table a party of four. 10 mins later the hostess walked backed to our table with another party of five and said “why are you seating here?” I told her. “you sat us here”. I was so embarrassed! After being moved to another table the waiter expecting for us to grab our own water and salad as we were moving to another table.
pork katsu, fried clams, and poke were all excellent. the shabu shabu and the eggplant/squid dishes were poor in taste and, for the latter option, undercooked. long wait for food but attentive server.
From the pitcher was dripping into my food. In addition to my bad experience I was charged 100% more and they had to make the corrections.
As I was patiently waiting and watching the rest of my party enjoying thier food 15 mins later the Cheif came out with my steak and didn’t even enknowledge me as if he was irritated and walked away.
I ordered thier special a medium steak that came out well done as the waitress noticed she asked “I see its well done, would you like me to take it back” I replied “yes please”. So she took the steak back to the cheif and left my plate with sauce spilt on my side meal.
Last years trip to Hilo I was unable to eat at Miyos due to the high value of customers. This year I was determined. I made reservations on my last night in Hilo.
The waiter came back to fill our water and noticed that as she was pouring our glass the condensation
NO MATTER HOW BAD THE SERVICE OR FOOD I DONT WRITE VIEWS BUT I HAD TO ON THIS ONE!
