We there because some website said it had the best fish and chips on the island. It looked fancy and I was skeptical, but when we drove by it my wife got pretty excited about it - we also noticed that they have beverages in a pineapple, which we had been looking for.
Service was awesome and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back. Open air restaurant was nice. We tried a bit of everything and I don't think you could get a bad meal at this place.
More like diner food here. Ordered their pineapple burger and it was just a regular burger with a slice of pineapple. I guess i had higher expectations.
I am trying to go easy for sake of the very nice staff who served us, but at the same time am extremely disappointed in the management of this restaurant that makes this type of decision.
Great food! We got the hilo sample platter and an order of buffalo wings, more than enough for 2 people. Also ordered the Pineapple Pow! Great novelty, but a little weak for our taste. Pitcher of local brew was a better choice. Great local musician was playing all night. Would definitely come here again.
Toppings on nachos were just slathered on. so the middle to bottom had nothing.
What we ended up with was simply the most fantastic meal we have had on our trip. The fish and chips were divinely inspired. My wife got the Ono on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with summer squash. Holy heck it was good. Our meal was a bit speedy, for just those three things, but I think it was ABSOLUTELY worth it.
Bathroom available. Street parking free for an hour. (not sure how often ticket cops come by..) More than enough time to eat.
Very nice service, they are cheerful and very accommodating to special requests like splitting a meal (the seafood pasta dish shown is a half portion). It's tasty comfort food but a little too heavy and cheesy. But my complaint, the main reason for 3 stars, is that the "seafood" dish meat consists half of what appears to be CHICKEN breast. Also at $25 it's a little on the high side (other entrees are $15 to $20). So I feel both mislead and shortchanged.
