With so many bad experiences at this vet we vowed never to go there again.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Established old timer business and it shows in their ability to provide a wide array of services. We love Dr. Rodriguez!
Bottom line, the $350 surgery completely failed, but thank God the unsaved tissue sloughed off and healing did occur, no thanks to the surgery.

I had found an email! from the previous Friday from them telling us the vet had ordered an additional medication (by this time it's 3 days later). I mentioned this to the dressing change techs so they would check before they did the change, but they just went right ahead and changed the bandage without the new medication. When we checked out we were charged $35, which they said was their standard price for dressing changes. They denied ever quoting $20 for the dressing change. If I'd known the price was going to be nearly double, I'd have done it at home and saved the gas money.
Dressing changes were so difficult I called to confirm their offer to change it for us for $20 and they said sure bring him in any time.
We had to ask to see the vet during one visit and she came out and spent less than a minute with us in the waiting room
The staff are awesome! No matter how busy it gets they remain cool, calm and collected. Friendly and attentive to your needs. When it's your turn with the Vet you feel they give you 100% attention! I love that and I love Dr. Lei Imano!!!
I brought in three chins and DR Rodriguez did a fantastic job going from one to the next. It was his first time with my dogs and yet he was able to name each one correctly as he examined each. He was great at explaining everything.
We were taken in the back and shown how to change the dressing. At that time we were told we could have them do it for $20 or we could do it ourselves. It was a long drive so we opted to do it ourselves and they sold us the supplies needed. Follow-up appointment was almost $100 without any consult from the vet.
Every time we went there the price was more than quoted (one time we were charged double - I pointed it out to the clerk and she corrected it), and the waiting area was more chaotic and disorganized and seemed downright dangerously crowded to me. There was no continuity in our care and really poor communication.
The only good thing I can say about our experience at the Aloha Veterinary Center on Holomua in Hilo is that they did take us right in at 7 something in the morning when we arrived with our injured dog. Of course they charged us $75 for the visit because we didn't have an appointment, but we probably would have paid anything to have our torn and bleeding baby seen right away.
We arrived for the follow-up appointment a week later and our dog was taken from us, apparently for the vet to remove the dressing and assess his progress - we did not see the vet.
The vet recommended a $350 surgery which was done that day and we were able to pick our dog up that afternoon.
