My sister and brother in law stayed at this lovely place and cannot stop talking about how wonderful it was to be right in the heart of downtown Hilo.
As a hostess, Kawehi is caring and conscientious person who goes out of her way to make sure her guests feel welcome and their needs are attended to. Staying at Hale Kawehi can best be described as having all of the benefits of living in one's personal residence, but with all the amenities of a cozy old Hawaii home.
We loved our stay at Hale Kawehi! The open air environment, cozy furniture and stained glass were exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a getaway! It was a beautiful walk to downtown Hilo and the ocean. The owner, Colleen (Kawehi) was so warm and made us feel so comfortable. We look forward to our next visit!

This is our second stay at this wonderful place in Hilo. We heartily recommend Hale Kawehi as wonderful location to escape the tourist "rush" of Hawaii and set back into an atmosphere that is both relaxing and one which permits sampling off-the-beaten path parts of Hilo.
I had a great visit. The house was very beautiful. There were fresh pastries and juice every morning. It was very cozy and made me feel like I was in paradise. The host was very welcoming and kindhearted. I would recommend anyone to stay here if visiting Hilo.
