Left a pair of expensive sunglasses inside vehicle after returning car on Sunday 4/23/17 around 7pm (my fault, I know) and decided to call them up to figure out how to go about locating them (literally an hour after returning the car). I figured the cleaning crew was already working on my car and others at this time and was correct when told from the lady I was talking to that they had the car and she was unsure about locating them. I was advised to contact the lost and found number she provided but I seem to be in a never ending loop about getting someone on the line at lost and found and unsure if I even have the right number..lol. Phone continues to ring until the call is ended without option to leave a voicemail. ...Ok that's great. She also told me the number associated to the rental agreement which was my sisters will get a call when they get them in hand. (I'm seriously doubtful I will get these back since I cant seem to get someone on the phone to even tell me if they have them)
Make sure you grab all your belongings when you return your vehicle, otherwise don't count on getting them back. I've already submitted a claim through HQ about this.
Renting a car at the Hilo Airport was a snap! We booked online and prepaid within minutes. Arriving at the Avis desk to pick up our car took less than 5 minutes and the staff was friendly. The car worked perfect and was exactly what we needed. Drop off after hours by putting the keys and contract in a locked box was also surprisingly easy and efficient. The cost of the car was also reasonable. I highly recommend Avis!
Will update review if I get a call from someone actually in Lost and Found who can tell me what's going on since apparently nobody else has any idea. Not surprised here..
Great location right by the airport. Excellent service. They upgraded my economy car to a 2 door Wrangler (but had 4 people in my party). Then had to wait 20 mins for them to bring another vehicle which was a 4 door Wrangler. Cost a lot extra for gas. I love to get free upgrades but prefer if I'm asked first.
Renting from Avis at Hilo is a snap. I saved a bit using prepay. Just ensure you select the car class you want. Hilly areas might demand more engine power. Avis has plenty of car selection. It was a short five minutes to collect keys and verify contract and we were at the car. Return was also a snap -they use self park drop-off, note mileage, fuel, and stop at counter for receipt. I will use Avis again.
This was the perfect vehicle for us for the Big Island. The online check in was easy, and the Ford Explorer that was chosen for us was the perfect vehicle. It allowed us to haul around the family and there was plenty of room to stow all the gear wherever we went (explored the entire island except roads that required 4WD). Check out and check in took about 1 minute. Will stick with Avis for sure.
