False advertising and information. Incredibly disappointing service. Because of the poor reviews we read regarding unavailable amenities due to construction/remodeling, we confirmed that the pool and in-room service would in fact be available during our stay. We were informed that these services would be available and that construction would be finished before our arrival. In addition, the hotel’s website states that in-room service is now available. However, this is not the case. When trying to place an order and requesting our food be delivered to our room as expected, the front desk told us this was not an option as the restaurant was new and they had not set room service up yet. Without an apology or acknowledgment of this misinformation, the front desk then told us that we could ask the restaurant, as they may have a server with the availability to deliver our meal. When inquiring with the onsite restaurant, they told us they were a third party vendor without access to the hotel elevators, hence unable to deliver. While this may seem like a small thing, the false advertising and lack of accountability is incredibly disappointing. Had we received the proper information, we would have booked elsewhere or properly planned our dinner before settling in for the evening. I do not recommend Grand Naniloa based on their “sorry, you’re SOL” attitudes. We definitely expected more from a Hilton brand.
We booked this place for a one night stand over and were very pleasantly surprised. There room was simple but comfortable and the hotel was located on the water with good ocean (harbour) views. Great food and drink from the poolside restaurant.
This place is good, given the location ! The huge banyan trees and the proximity to water. One thing this place lacks is a decent enough in-house restaurant and room service ! The food is over priced for sure. In short, you pay for the ambience. But apart from that, lush trees, pleasant vibe. Pro tip - take the bay view room. It is cheaper and the view is acceptable.
It is located right by the ocean in Hilo, and it is only 10 minutes drive from the airport. It only take 45 minutes to drive to the Volvano National Park from there. Honestly, comparing to the west side of island, this is much nicer to stay. With the wave keep pounding on to the shore, the scene is just breathe taking. The hotel put a lot of chairs by the shore and you can just relax, seat there and enjoy the sound of the ocean. Out family will definitely come back to this hotel next time when we come back to this island.
Room was very nice. You can tell some things at the hotel need to be renovated but it appears they are hard at work updating so I can’t complain there. Our room was very modern and nice. The view was fabulous. Locals in Hilo are a little shy but super friendly. Easy access to great restaurants and convenience shopping. The restaurant with the hotel was absolutely phenomenal and well worth the prices. It was pretty much a 5 star quality restaurant. Whoever their chef is... fantastic. The interior decor where updated outpaces the resorts on the other side of the island. We stayed here for half our trip but found while at the Hilton Resort for the other half of the trip we were dreaming of the double tree.
