Great for catching a sunrise or sunset. Bring a towel and extra outerwear. Weather has it's own mind and agenda. Bring a chair or picnic blanket too!

Great spot for seeing endemic birds
Beautiful! Steep tree covered walls separate seven scenic valleys. I love the north valley (Pololu) in particular. Parking by the looks is sparse and the are no restrooms at the Pololu valley lookout. The trail into Pololu is steep and a bit muddy but short and clearly marked. This is worth a visit even if you only see the valleys from the lookout... They are unlike any other place on the Big Island.
If you can't visit Hakalau forest NEAR, this is a place to see I'iwii and apapaane. If lucky you may see more native birds.
