Ok so we were skeptical going in reading some of the negative reviews. If you don't like to be in the ocean this tour is not for you. The boat ride is bumpy but awesome if you like open waters. We got great views of the lava and ultimately that's what we paid to see. Overall I would say one of the better open water experiences I've had
I would give zero stars to this tour. I have travelled 15 countries and been on more than 50 tours but this is by far the worst tour i have ever done. The most unprofessional staff. The tour advertises that no matter where you sit you get the best view and the captains are so inexperienced that they were not able to turn the boat on the other side. Only one side of the boat got to view the lava. The crew are very rude. They sent a email saying the tour wont starts at 9am and were almost leaving without us at 8.45am. By far the worst tour ever. Paid $$ for no view of the lava and a bumpy horrible ride back and forth. Decided to do the tour with another company the next day having gone so far and got to see the lava up close and was a pleasant experience. These guys get their star ratings up by fake reviews..DO NOT TRUST.. There are other better companies out there!!

Lave Ocean Tours is the best way to see the Lava flow into the Ocean! Everyone is informative, enthusiastic, helpful, fun, safety first and want you to enjoy your time on their high speed boat. I was trying to decide between Tour bus, Helicopter and Boat. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I picked Lave Ocean Tours. They brought me closer to the actual flow (not for the meek at heart), this was the single most exciting sight of my entire 55 year life. And the people with Lava Ocean Tours not only made this happen but made it fun and exciting too. If you find yourself going to or on the big island and have not seen Lava flow up close make sure to book with these wonderful people. Also please say hi to the energetic and effervescent Krista she will help you capture the moment on your phone and answer ANY and all your questions about your Lava flow experience.
Amazing experience! Spectacular close up view of lava flowing into the ocean. Steam bath at times, heat from the lava, boiling rocks around the boat, great pics and videos. We live here part time and this might be the best thing we have done. Boat ride there and back is an adventure. This is open ocean so you should expect a very rough, wet ride. Not for the frail or feeble or anyone with a fear of the water. We had a pretty calm day and still got wet and bounced around. But if you want to see one of the most amazing things in the world you need to put in some effort. Everyone on our boat had a great time. Did the 5:25 tour and got back around 7:30.
I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a lava ocean tour.

Spoke with an unprofessional, robotic phone rep who also regurgitated their no refund cancellation policy.
