Great flight with Joyce, great ground crew too. Only problem was lack of red lava... Kilauea didn’t cooperate although we had a great scenic trip with good commentary in a door’s off chopper.
The pilots are the best hosts and the most skilled - this is not JUST a tour - this is the experience of a lifetime - do it - then do it AGAIN - because you WILL be back.
This is the tour you're going to talk about for years to come - ours was a year ago and we still crow to our friends - doors off - lava - Hawai'i - what more could you ask for?
TIP: Take advice seriously - everything needs to be tied on and strapped in - wind is a big factor and loose items = bad - plan head - full battery in your camera - a fast zoom or prime lens 100-300mm range - we had two of us so one shot wide angle and one shot close - look at that shot! - thats 24mm prime - that's how close we got. Do it! (Do it with Bruce if you can)
Great service ! Highly recommended , courteous staff. Their no doors tour is awesome , you get to feel the heat of lava and smell of that sulfur. They do tilt the helicopters to feel that lava . They give you preparatory tour ahead of the actual trip.
The staff and pilot were amazing. They certainly treated our family well and were informative. However, I went on this trip to see lava flow and saw absolutely none. If you are looking for an expensive helicopter ride to see the island go for it! If you want to see volcanoes and lava do yourself a favour and take the early morning boat ride instead.
We were originally planning on a Lava Boat Tour but due to high waves, we chose to book a doors off tour with Paradise Helicopters instead. It was our first helicopter tour and it was amazing! We flew right up to the volcano and could see the lava inside and flowing nearby into the ocean. We could even feel the heat from it. The tour also took us over several waterfalls and the pilot gave us a great synopsis of what we were looking at. We would definitely recommend this tour, especially with the doors off!
