Kyle was our guide and very informative. He helps you relax by playing some music and keeps things steady. If you are lucky, he will take you over his favorite waterfall which most locals don't even know about. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Be sure to wear dark clothes so the reflection will not show up in your pictures and also change your settings on your DSLR camera so the glare will not reflect on your memories.
We had a fantastic tour of active lava and beautiful waterfalls. I called Safari to discuss booking a tour as two in our party were over the weight limit. Stephanie was fantastic, we were able to book a private tour to accommodate our party without totally breaking the bank. Doreen went over the safety and made us feel confident this company knew what they were doing - she even took our picture with the helicopter with our own cameras after the tour (refreshing not to be gouged to buy the picture). And Kyle, the pilot and tour guide, was knowledgable, engaging and made us all feel at ease with his skill and professionalism. Overall, a phenomenal experience that we will never forget. Experienced the Big Island with Paca, our pilot, at the end of August. Initial email reservations were accurate and friendly. On site check in was smooth, professional and engaging. Pilot was dynamic and thoroughly knowledgeable...he used to fly Apache helis and is a Kauai native. The flight itself was like in slow motion: detailed and not rushed. The heli itself was spacious for 6, 4 in the back and 2 up front with the pilot. For the price, there was no compromise compared to the more expensive outfits out there. Personally, you need to this before you set foot on the national volcano park to appreciate the magnitude of the volcano expanse.
My husband and I had an AWESOME time on the Safari Helicopter Tour over the lava flow and crater. Truly an amazing thing to behold. Kyle was our pilot and he was great! Very informative tour with fun musical pairings. Would absolutely do again!
