This place has potential but there are a few real annoyances that will prevent us from coming back. The first problem is that the AC unit is extremely tiny. When we arrived in the late afternoon it was 85+ degrees in the room and it took all afternoon to cool down. If you pull the shades over the whole window, it blocks the tiny AC unit so if you enjoy sleeping after sunrise, you have to choose between no AC and a lot of light coming through the window in the morning. If you are hot and want to cool down in the pool, it will probably be closed. The pool hours are 9am - 6pm so early morning swims or relaxing by the pool in the evening is not an option. It really is a bummer because the pool area and hotel grounds are landscaped beautifully. On the bright side, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was good and the hotel staff are very friendly.

Best gem in Hilo! Amazing gourmet food with a beautiful view of Koi fish in clear ocean water. Service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Perfect anniversary sunset dinner!
This isn't the Hilton, so don't come expecting that level of extravagance. But what this place does have, they do so much better than the high end places down the street. The location is convenient and there's ample parking. The rooms are impressively clean and well maintained by skilled staff. The front desk staff is welcoming and friendly at all times. There is fresh local fruit available for hotel guests every day and there is coffee (more than just one single serve cup) in every room. The layout of this place is a bit of a maze due to multiple buildings, and most rooms don't have much of a view, but the location is immediately adjacent to Reeds Bay park, which is fantastic if you want to swim or enjoy the view and sounds of the waterfront. Please note this place is adjacent to the nearby airport's flight path, but the jets are only active during the day and only occasionally bothersome. I understand why other travelers recommend this place, and I will return in the future.
Budget hotel. Exceptional front desk personnel. Clean room if a little odd in layout. Bath/Shower supplies were a wonderful assortment of scented soaps, shampoos, and lotions.
